On October 25th 2025, the Steele Knight Band performed at the UIL area competition. Everyone knew that there was a high chance of rain but they still had high hopes. The first chance of rain was at 4pm. It hit 4pm, and the band was hopeful because it had not yet rained. The Knight band performed at finals at 6:30 pm.
“It was our final performance and our best dance,” Lexis Roberts (10) said.
The band got off the field and everybody felt amazing about their performance. They went to the buses to get dinner, and then the first lightning delay happened,
right after they performed. Forty-five minutes later, the band moms said that the band was going home. Head drum major Kinsey Deason (12) expressed her anger.
She believed that “it was stupid and they should have moved it (the competition) to Tuesday.” The ride back home was quiet; everyone knew the band did so well.
“I was so disappointed. I know we did so good and no one expected them to cancel,” Lawson Fratus (11) said.
The band hopes to make a comeback at the UIL area competition next marching season.
