Steele High School is a common military high school and is known for its prestigious AFJROTC program. Seniors in AFJROTC, or the Echo Flight are preparing to go into the Air force.
“I plan to enlist after getting my nursing degree, and I want to go into pararescue. After the Air Force, I plan to do something mechanical, such as building furniture or working on cars,” Skyler Mckee-Foerester said.
In AFJROTC there are a lot of experiences: PT every friday, field trips, and seeing military recruiters.
“My freshman year we had a group of pararescue jumpers come over and do team building exercises with us,” Mckee Foerster said. “Some of my favorite memories are the field trips we’ve been on. We went to METC, the BMT graduation ceremony and the Randolph AFB Air Show. My grandfather was a gunner on a B-17 during World War 2. I saw my dad there and was able to get a picture with a B-17 there since they are special to us.”
